Flavors of Fall

A little ode to fall and a few of my favorite fall recipes.

Each season has its own flavors. And fall, most of all, has simply some of the best. You’ve got your thanksgiving staples – pumpkin pie, roasted turkey & gravy, and cranberries. You’ve also got butternut squash, apple cider, caramel apples, and spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, clove, and coriander. And then it’s also prime football season, which means a plethora of unhealthy things like wings, nachos, and all the other assortments of appetizers.

Autumn is definitely one of the most aromatic and delicious times of the year. So to honor it, here are 5 of my favorite recipes inspired by fall.

Butternut Squash Tacos

The perfect fall tacos! This roasted butternut squash taco recipe makes for a great transition from summer to fall, capturing the flavors of a summery street taco and pairing it with the buttery caramelized flavor of seasoned squash.

Apple Cinnamon Hotcakes

A good old-fashioned pancake recipe designed to fill you up on those cold weekend mornings. The pancake batter is spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg, cooked to fluffy perfection, and then topped with a cascading avalanche of hot, spiced apple cinnamon topping.

Stout and Smoked Gouda Soup

Smoked gouda, gruyere, and a milk stout make up this beautiful bowl of goodness. It’s a surefire way to warm up during the colder months.

Apple jalapeno jam spread on toast

Jalapeno Apple Spread

A perfect pairing of tart and spicy flavors. Made with granny smith apples and hot fresh jalapeno, this spread is perfect over warm toast.

Spicy Squash Soup

A spicy squash soup does that pairs sweet butternut, along with fragrant spices of nutmeg and cinnamon, a bit of honey and heavy cream, and the caramel flavor of brown sugar. All of that sweetness matches perfectly with the hints of smoky spiciness from smoked paprika, chipotle peppers, and adobo sauce.
