Odell Variety Pack

And they prove it with this variety pack of great, drunk poem inspiring beer. While there isn’t as much variety as a 4×3 or 6×2 pack, it’s all about quality over quantity here. The pack includes a DIPA, an APA, and a wild ale. Boy am I glad they finally put Wisconsin on their distribution list.

Myrcenary – 9.3% – DIPA

“Named for Myrcene, a component of essential oils in the hop flower, Myrcenary Double IPA is our tribute to those who revere the illustrious hop, and their unyielding exploit to craft hop-forward beers. Brewed with a blend of hops containing the highest levels of Myrcene, this double IPA prevails with a tropical fruit-like flavor, a pungent floral aroma, and a clean getaway.

Starting off strong. It’s a heavy, syrupy, thick double, with earthy oily hop flavor, a hint of resin, and then some juicy pineapple and bitter grapefruit flavor. It’ s balanced by a strong, rich malt backbone that adds to the heavy, creamy flavor of the beer. For a DIPA, I’m appreciating the tropical/fruit notes, and glad it’s not all just pine and resin.

‘Go west young
man make your great
escape while you still can
run toward the mountain
land where good beer flows
rivers run deep and hearts sing
of glory yet
to be.’

Drumroll – 5.3% – APA

“A bold, juicy, citrus-inspired and tropically hop forward APA that looks and tastes like pineapple, orange, mango, and grapefruit.”

This is the stuff man. For an APA, it has a lot of fruit flavor. It’s filled with floral and citrus hops, and juicy fruit notes. You definitely taste flavors like pineapple and refreshing mango. There’s also a hint of pine, with a lingering bitter finish, and it’s all balanced with a very mild, sweet caramel maltiness.

‘A festival concert, skies like fire
subterranean shows standing shoulder2shoulder
dive bar venues with a blacked out choir

Sing to me

Louder

Bass drum kicks and slick guitar licks
american!
troubadours!
Encore, encore!’

Sunny Rain – 6% – Wild Ale

“For this limited release, we introduced bright hop aroma to balance a tart citrus-like character. It’s as unlikely as rain on a clear summer day and it makes for a surprising, yet very drinkable beer.”

As far as sours and tart beers, this is pretty mellow. It won’t sting your jaw or make your face pucker. It’s a refreshing, lighter beer with juicy notes of green apple, citrus, lemon and white grapes (lots of white grape juice flavor) with mildly bitter floral hops. On the backend, the malts have a straw, grassy, wheat-like sweetness, like a light cereal.

‘Sometimes sour is nice
sunshine and rain
lonesome nights

It feels good
the occasional
melancholy
realize warm comforts
and beauty, what’s holy.’
