Ich liebe bier! I picked 5 Oktoberfest styled beers (and one amber)
to get into the fall spirit.

Pick 6 standout: New Glarus Staghorn

oktoberfest pick six pack of beers
Prost!

Lakefront Brewing – Oktoberfest Lager – 5.7%

It’s a delicious lager with nutty and sweet caramel malts. It’s on the lighter side, and has a nice balance between the rich malts and a subtle grassy hop finish.

‘Milwaukee
in the fall
rich ambers flow through our
veins, rainy evenings spent confessing
love in fogged up dive bar
window panes’

Metropolitan Brewing – Afterburner – 5.5.%

This lager is full of toasted biscuit and bready malt flavor. It’s also got a spicy noble hop finish. A creamy, smooth Oktoberfest that’s on the heavier side.

‘Autumn
rain falls slick
shellacs the street, like black licorice
inside, another swig, and song
and the party rages
all night long’

Karben 4 – Oaktober – 5.7%

A very dark, earthy beer with notes of heavily roasted malts, vanilla, woodiness like oak chips, and nutty, hazelnut flavor. It’s like drinking a fall forest campground site.

‘Take her
hand to the fall
barn dance, red orange leaves
crisp crunch potato chips, scarecrows smile
we drink and dance
forget about life for awhile’

New Glarus – Staghorn – 6.25%

I got notes of sweet caramel malts and toasted biscuit, along with some subtle spice flavor, hazelnut, and some fruity sweetness, like raisins.

‘As the
sunsets colored
candycorn, my mind wanders
begins to year. No matter how many beer
dream summers come & go. I’ll shout and
scream for at least one more’

Ale Asylum – Oktillion – 6%

A creamy beer with dominant nutty and breaded malt flavor. There’s also some spicy and earthy hops at work. It’s a lot lighter than most of the other beers on this Oktoberfest list. But it’s refreshing, and the noticeable hoppiness gives it a unique twist on the märzen style.

‘And then
I saw her
dancing chubby checker wild
electric foot, moving mad
like an 8-legged oktopus’

Harpoon – Flannel Friday – 5.7% – Amber Ale

A delicious amber style beer with lots of bitter hops. It’s crisp, with flavors of sweet caramel and toasted malts at first, and then hits you with a solid piney, earthy hopped finish.

‘It’s the
simple things in life
like autumn rains followed
by hot showers. Or cold beer after
putting in the hours’
