Pick 6 Poems: Idiot Farm and Friends

This will be a little different than poems. I recently started the Idiot by Dostoevsky. And it was the DIPA Idiot Farm from Karben4 that inspired me to reach for a 6-pack and pick out my favorite lines from literature.

Idiot Farm
Books And Beer. Just remember what you read though.

Bell’s – Oktoberfest – 5.5% – Märzen

It’s full of rich malt flavor, with notes of hazelnut, toast, and caramel. Balanced with a floral bitterness.

Steinbeck, Grapes of Wrath:
“Maybe it’s all men an’ all women we love; maybe that’s the Holy Sperit-the human sperit-the whole shebang. Maybe all men got one big soul ever’body’s a part of.’ Now I sat there thinkin’ it, an’ all of a suddent-I knew it. I knew it so deep down that it was true, and I still know it.”

New Glarus – Snowshoe – 5.7% – Amber

Wooee! Lots of caramel flavor with earthy/nutty malt. A heavier beer, that finishes with a piney hopped bitterness.

Lewis, Main Street:
“One time I said that you were my soul. And that still goes. You’re all the things that I see in a sunset when I’m driving in from the country, the things that I like but can’t make poetry of.”

O’so – Infectious Groove – 4.5% – Sour

Very, very tart. Imagine sucking on a lemon. Now you’ve tasted this beer. But beyond the cheek puckering flavor, there’s a hidden malt backbone.

Kerouac, On the Road:
“Ah, it was a fine night, a warm night, a [beer]-drinking night, a moony night, and a night to hug your girl and talk and spit and be heavengoing.”

New Glarus – Blacktop – 6.9% – Black Ale

Rich roasted malt flavor, like burnt toast. Filled with with coffee, and a charred wood flavor, with a piney finish.

DFW, Infinite Jest:
“You will become way less concerned with what other people think of you when you realize how seldom they do.”

New Glarus – Raspberry Tart – 4% – Fruit Beer/Session

Liquid raspberries. Seriously, it’s like raspberry puree. There are other notes, mainly oak/ and some malt sweetness, but good luck finding them.

Fitz, Tender is the Night:
“I don’t ask you to love me always like this but I ask you to remember. Somewhere inside of me there will always be the person I am tonight.”

Karben4 – Idiot Farm – 8.4% – DIPA

(By now, I’m wrecked) – It’s easy drinking for a double. Has lot’s of juicy fruit flavor, like pineapple/mango with a piney hop finish and a caramel malt backdrop. Like starburst meets hops meets malt.

Dostoevsky, Idiot:
“I swear to you that I am not quite such an ass as I like to appear sometimes, although I am rather an ass, I admit.”
