Pick 6 Poems Vol. III

Pick 6 Standout: Central Waters Summarillo IPA

(What is a pick 6 poem? Click here to find out.)

6 beers
Stay Gold, PonyBoys.

1. Upland Brewing – Latitude Adjustment – 6.2%  –  APA

Aromas of tropical fruit and pine hops. It had a subtle sticky lacing, with dominant tropical fruit tones of pineapple, mango and coconut. A solid malt backbone to balance it out and  give it some sweetness.

‘Sweet sweet
oh so very
sweet, pineapple mango
booming summer bursting tropic
pale ale.’

2. Lakefront Brewing – New Grist – 5.1% – Gluten Free Pilsner

It has a nice spice noble hop flavor. It finishes slightly sweet, with an almost sour tart flavor. It was a solid offering for a gluten free beer. The only thing I noticed was a weird feeling left on the tongue after drinking it, like a kind of chalkiness.

‘New Grist
Lakefront Pilsner
you leave a weird taste in
my mouth. I don’t know what to think
of it.’

3. Central Waters – Summarillo – 5.2% – American Pale Lager

Central Waters is another favorite Wisco brewery of mine. They make really well-rounded beers. And Summarillo has a special place in my heart. It’s boldly hopped, with a nice mix of citrus and grapefruit bitterness. It also some nice lemon zest, and a hint of spiciness to end it all on.

‘Oh boy,
Summarillo.
How did they capture the
spirit of summer in a beer
bottle?

4. Sierra Nevada – Nooner – 5.2%  –  Pilsner

Another one of my favorites – especially when it comes to hoppy pilsners. It’s simple, spicy, crisp, hoppy and finishes clean.

‘Nooner
one of the best
pilsners I’ve ever had.
Baby golden crisp spiced slice of
heaven.’

5. Fulton Brewing – Lonely Blonde – 4.8% – Blonde Ale

What a beautiful beer! It has that simple, grassy, wheat flavor. It’s crisp and refreshing, with strong grainy, bready malt flavors.

‘Sunshine
beer lonely blonde
beer, crisp and delightful
of barnyard flavor captured in
an ale.’

6. Green Flash – Soul Style – 6.8% – IPA

Floral heavy aroma, packed with fruit forward bitter notes like citrus and grapefruit. Other things I tasted were resin, pine, and more bitterness.

‘Soul style
screams, beckoning
summer with fruit forward
songs and a delicious bitter
finish.’
