Victory Brewing Variety Pack

Holy Hell. Victory packs this thing with two out of the four beers clocking in over 8%. RIP.

Victory Variety Pack

Although I really wanted to try Victory’s Sour Monkey, it wasn’t in the pack. But I got their Belgian-style tripel, the Golden Monkey, instead. Along with a nice variety of other beer. Sidenote: Victory makes a lot of different beers. If you’re ever in their area, go check them out.

Alright. So these poems might not make much sense. But do any of the slurred word drunken beer poems do? Cheers.

Golden Monkey – 9.5% – Tripel

Here’s what they say about the Golden Monkey: “Experience the sweet, sensual aromas and flavors of our famous Belgian-style tripel. Immerse yourself in rich notes of fruit and spice and savor its dry finish.”

It definitely has that banana-y bubblegum flavor of a Belgian. It also has some spice flavor that pairs well with the banana notes, with hints of clove, black pepper, and coriander. And it in no way comes off tasting like it’s 9.5%. This will be fun.

‘Mizaru
Kikazaru

Iwazaru

Care for a brew?’

Prima Pils – 5.3% – Pilsner

“Loads of earthy, herbal noble hop character with subtle malt complexity in the aroma. Flavor is very hop-forward with ample bitterness. Balanced malt and clean fermentation.”

A very grassy pilsner, so pretty on point with the description they gave. It has a sweet pale malt background and loads of grassy, earthy hop flavor along with some lemony zest. It lacks that noticeable bite that I like in my pilsners, but it’s refreshing.

‘Leaves of grass gently
flicker green soft embers
whispers of prairie angel hymns
looming song of summer
brought by ghost gusts of wind.

bottles of empty pilsners
on the paint peeled
farmhouse porch
aging body rocking chair
a smile, eyes fading torch.’

Home Grown New American Lager – 4.8% – Pale Lager

“Six varieties of American whole flower hops pack bold and juicy flavors into this crisp, drinkable lager. Meet Victory Home Grown. Your NEW American Lager.”

This is the perfect beer if you can’t decide between a lager or IPA. It’s right on the fence. A sweet malt base with notes of grainy cereal flavor, and then lots of floral, grassy hop, with citrus bitterness.

An everyman’s beer.

‘Mowing the grass
cold beer
in a glass
a few lagers
on a hazy afternoon
porch chair rockers
humming cicada tunes
victory beer
summer coming soon.’

Dirt Wolf – 8.7% – DIPA

“Loaded with Mosaic, Citra and Chinook hops, this aggressively hopped double IPA delivers an intense aroma and citrusy, earthy flavors.”

To me, the mosaic stands out instantly, and I love it. It has a tropical pineapple flavor, but you also get flashes of bitter grapefruit and sticky pine resiny hops. It’s so much different hop flavor packed into one. And it doesn’t have any of that double IPA heaviness.

‘Dirt between your toes as you
go
through half wet woods
under starlit steps
fingertips
tingling
full moon singing
a wild kiss
under the eye of Artemis’
