Steamed Cabbage & Sausage

This has become one of my go to weeknight dinners. It’s cheap, fast, and delicious. Making it ideal for those busy and chaotic days where all you want is some good food fast and without all the fuss.
So much cabbage lately.

Time You’ll Need

  • 15 minutes prep
  • 10-15 minutes cooking
  • Serves 2

What You’ll Need

  • 1 white onion, chopped
  • 4 cups of chopped green cabbage
  • 2 sausages (your choice) precooked
  • ½ cup of beef broth
  • ½ cup of white vinegar
  • ½ cup of water
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup of shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 tsp of worcestershire
  • Seasonings: salt, pepper, garlic powder, cayenne pepper
  • Spicy Brown mustard for serving
  • Slices jalapeno*
  • Optional*

What You’ll Do

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add chopped onion, cabbage, sausage, beef broth, white & balsamic vinegar, water, worcestershire, olive oil, salt and pepper to taste, 2 tsps of garlic powder, and ½ tsp of cayenne pepper.
  • Mix everything together and cook covered for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • After time is up, serve with spicy brown mustard and shredded Swiss cheese.
