Happy Thanksgiving!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year to be thankful. And I’m always thankful for a good meal. That’s what I love about this time of year. Delicious food, friends, and family. I wish we could live all year like it the holiday season.
Since I will be busy traveling, stuffing my face, and over-imbibing during Thanksgiving, I won’t have much time to write up and experiment with new recipes. So instead, I thought I would revisit these old classics. I think each in their own way would make a welcome addition to anyone’s Thanksgiving spread. Happy Thanksgiving!
1. Black Pepper & Gouda Mashed Potatoes
What’s Thanksgiving without mashed potatoes? This recipe puts a small spin on the classic, incorporating heaps of spicy black peppered and creamy Gouda.
2. Boxcar Curry Bean Loaf
No turkey? No problem? This bean loaf will have you totally forgetting bout meat this Thanksgiving. It uses lots of traditional curry spices that really pair well with other fall flavors.
For vegetarians, while this recipe does call for one egg, it’s optional, as the beans and curry sauce do plenty on their own to bind all these delicious ingredients together.
3. Garlic & Gouda Mac N’ Cheese
Mac N’ Cheese is a top tier comfort food. And this flavor profile of savory garlic and nutty Gouda bring it to the next level. It’s the perfect carb-loaded side dish for any Thanksgiving dinner.
4. Balsamic Brussel Sprouts
Finally! Something a bit healthier. This side dish is as simple as they come, but is full of great flavor. Toss the sprouts in a bowl of onion, garlic, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar, then roast them until they begin to get that delicious crispy edge.
5. Tart Cherry and Almond Cheese Cake
And now for dessert. This recipe adds tangy tart cherries, vanilla, and uses crushed almond both baked on the top, and incorporated into the crust. For an even more fall/Thanksgiving version, you could swap out the tart cherries for cranberries!
